FASTING
~ 25 ~
FASTING
Believers, fasting is prescribed for you, as it was
prescribed for those before you, so that you may
ward off evil. Fast a certain number of days; but if
any of you be sick or on a journey, then a similar
number of other days, and it is incumbent upon
those who can afford it to make sacrifice by feeding
a needy person. Yet it is better for him who does
good of his own accord; and that you should fast is
better for you, if you but knew it. In the month of
Ramadan the Qur’an was revealed, a guidance for
mankind with clear proofs of guidance
distinguishing right from wrong. So those of you
who witness the month should fast it. But anyone
who is sick or on a journey may fast a similar
number of other days. God desires ease for you, not
hardship. He desires you to fulfill the number and
magnify God for having guided you and He wishes
you to render thanks.
